8th Annual Mount St. Helens Drive We will be having a picnic lunch at South County Park in Toledo, so be sure to pack a lunch! We're posting this drive several months before the event and details can change, so... check back a week or two before the event for any changes. We will meet at the West Olympia Safeway around 8:00 AM. (Food, gas, coffee, restrooms) After a drivers meeting around 8:30 we will head out. We will head south through the Capitol Forest to Alexander Park for a quick rest stop. After our rest stop we will continue to head south through Winlock to our lunch stop at South County Park in Toledo. After lunch, we will head on to our final destination of the observatory at Johnston Ridge on Mount St. Helens* Mount St. Helens Science and Learning Center at Coldwater Lake. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/giffordpinchot/recarea/?recid=40401 Hopefully this year we will see all of the mountain. Come join us for what has always been an enjoyable drive. * Due to a significant landslide in May of 2023, State Route 504 is currently closed past the Coldwater Science and Learning Center at milepost 45.2. Therefore, we will not be able to make it all the way to the Johnston Ridge Observatory as we have done in years past. Instead, we will end our drive at the Mount St. Helens Science and Learning Center at Coldwater Lake.
