Redondo Square/Federal Way to Nisqually Wildlife Refuge This is a casual drive that will include sections of urban areas, waterfront and wildlife viewing at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. We will meet at the Safeway in Des Moines where we have gas, coffee and restrooms. There will be a drivers meeting at approx. 8:45 AM and then we will head out on our urban journey at 9:00 AM The drive will take in the Des Moines waterfront, past Dash and Browns points, then along the Tacoma waterfront stopping at Point Ruston. We then continue through Point Defiance Park with a quick stop at Owens beach to enjoy the view, after the park we will head to Titlow Beach park for a rest stop. After our break the drive will go through University Place, past Chambers Bay golf course, down through Steilacoom and on to Dupont for our lunch stop at Viva Mexico restaurant. After lunch we will complete the drive by touring the Nisqually area ending up at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. https://www.fws.gov/refuge/Billy_Frank_Jr_Nisqually/about.html Daily fee is $3.00 per four adults. An Interagency Annual Pass (old Golden Eagle), Senior Pass (old Golden Age), or Access Passport, Federal Duck Stamp, or an Annual Refuge Pass will admit the pass holder and 3 additional adults (over age 16). Children 16 and under enter free. So bring your camera, your binoculars and join us for a day of great scenery, urban excitement and wildlife viewing!
